Bed Bug Information
For detailed information about Bed Bugs, please visit our dedicated Bell Bed Bugs website.

The common bed bug is reddish-brown, oval, flattened, and adults range from about one-fourth to five-eighths of an inch in length. Females can lay between 200 and 500 eggs in their lifetime, laying 3 to 4 eggs per day. Bed bugs can complete their life cycle from nymphs to adults in about 5 to 6 weeks, although sometimes it can take up to 5 months. After reaching adulthood, bed bugs can live anywhere between 4 and 18 months.

In the 1950’s, DDT became a well-known and popular pesticide in the United States. DDT was quite effective in the battle against bed bugs, all but eradicating them from the US. With the ban of DDT, bed bugs have been making their way back into homes across America. With the increase of travel and shift from pesticides, bed bugs have become a large problem in homes and business.

According to recent surveys done by Pest Control Technology magazine, 90% of bed bugs were found living in beds, sofas, and recliners. One of the best ways to limit habitation is through encasement. Allergy Sentry Mattress Encasements will help protect your home from bed bugs. Once entombed in the encasement, bed bugs will not be able to feed, and will eventually die.
