All Bugzip® encasements are made of heavy-duty clear vinyl that resists tears and can easily hold large objects inside. • Open and apply as soon as you reach final travel destination. NOT for use during transit.
• Use two hands when using zipper with extra care around zipper corners.
• Do not leave any loose clothing, bags or shoes outside encasements.
• Double-check that zipper is fully closed except when removing contents.
• At the end of your stay, remove belongings and leave used BugZip® in room for disposal.

Will BugZip® prevent me from getting bitten by bed bugs?
No, they will only prevent bed bugs from getting into your belongings while the bag is zipped tight, thereby greatly reducing the likelihood of you bringing them home with you.

Won't a mattress protector keep the bed bugs away?
Unfortunately, not. If bed bugs are in a mattress they will also be in many other hiding places in the room such as box springs, headboard, dresser drawers, wallboards, etc... You won't see them because they hide very well and only come out at night, but if the room is infested, they can easily crawl into your suitcase or loose articles and travel along with you.

When should I use BugZip® in my own bedroom?
You should use BugZip® at home if you suspect bed bugs are in your bedroom, are about to be treated for bed bugs, have recently been treated for bed bugs, or if one of your neighbors (in multi-unit buildings) has been treated for bed bugs. Using BugZip® encasements at home, after washing and drying clothes, reduces likelihood of reinfestation in your belongings and makes it easier for your pest control expert to search for, discover and remove bed bugs.

Can I sleep in a BugZip® encasement to prevent from getting bitten?
Absolutely not. BugZip® is a suffocation hazard. Do not zip any person or pet inside BugZip® . Do not leave children unattended with BugZip®

I’ve heard that my suitcase can catch bed bugs from an airplane, taxi or bus. Can I use BugZip® during my travels to further protect my luggage?
At your own risk. BugZip® is not designed to withstand the rigors of traveling or security clearance. While the vinyl is heavyweight and will hold up while being used as recommended, it will likely tear when being thrown around and in and out of a plane, taxi, train or bus. The risk of catching bed bugs is much much smaller while traveling. The main concern is that you can unknowingly be staying in a room infested with bed bugs. The bedroom is the most likely place for bed bugs to latch onto your bags.

Is it true that you can catch bed bugs on a cruise ship and even at five-star hotels?
Yes. People unknowingly bring bed bugs from place to place. Bed bugs don’t check hotel ratings or blogs before they check in. They will go wherever luggage takes them.

I’m having trouble getting my large suitcase and garment bag into BugZip® . Is there an easier way to do this?
Yes, lay the suitcase upside down on the ground. Place BugZip® onto the suitcase, zipper side down. Now just flip the suitcase/BugZip® over and make sure zipper is on correct side (place BugZip® on the suitcase instead of the suitcase into the BugZip® .)

If I put BugZip® around my suitcase when I check into a hotel, can I still put my clothes in the closet and drawers?
Only if you use a BugZip® drawer liner. Bed bugs are known to sleep in furniture and closets. We recommend that you keep most of your clothes inside the suitcase. You can easily open BugZip® as needed. Make sure dirty clothes also go inside BugZip® , and don’t forget kids’ dolls and toys as well.

Where is the best place to keep my suitcase in a hotel room?
As far away from the bed as possible. Off the floor on a luggage rack is good. Bathroom hallway is usually fine. Of course, always zipped tight in BugZip® when in the hotel.

Won’t the bed bugs get on my pajamas and my kids’ teddy bear while sleeping?
It’s always a possibility, but very unlikely. Usually bed bugs will bite and then retreat back to their hiding places in the box springs, furniture or wall boards. It’s still better to zip up pajamas and toys in BugZip® during the day. This greatly reduces their exposure to wayward bugs.

Are BugZip® encasements guaranteed to be 100% bed bug proof?
Unfortunately, we cannot make that guarantee. Using BugZip® while traveling means opening and closing the bag many times and putting clothes inside which have a slight chance of being infested already. Our experience is they are about 99% effective, but they can never be 100%. Yet, BugZip® is still the best prevention product on the market!

If I bring bed bugs home after using BugZip® , will you pay to have the costs of treating the infestation?
Sorry, but BugZip® is a prevention measure you use at your own risk. There is no way to know how bugs were brought home. They could still find their way into something that is not zipped up, or they might have been brought into your home by someone else.

I am having guests stay with us and I suspect they could have bed bugs in their luggage. Can I have them use BugZip® to prevent getting bed bugs in my home?
Yes. It is not fool-proof, but in general if they keep all their belongings zipped inside BugZip® when not wearing them, you will greatly reduce the chance of bed bugs crawling out. They usually are asleep in the suitcase lining during the day and like to come out late at night. So if BugZip® is zipped tight at night, they will stay in the suitcase and hopefully leave with your guest.

I find that the BugZip® zippers are stiff when I try to close them?
Make sure you always use two hands when opening or closing BugZip® zippers. One hand should hold the zipper area very straight while the other pulls on the zipper. Please use patience and caution, especially around corners and the zippers will work very smoothly and maintain their proper seal.
